FAQs About Air Handlers
What Does an Air Handler Do?
Simply put, an Air Handler is the component of an HVAC system that is responsible for regulating the heating and cooling of the inside of your space. Other systems, such as package units and split systems do this as well.
How Long Should an Air Handler Last?
When properly maintained, an air handler is estimated to last anywhere from 10-25 years. Our trained technicians here at Safe Air Technology, near Hammond, have technicians readily available to assist you in maintaining your air handler for years to come.
What Is the Difference Between an Air Conditioner and an Air Handler?
Although both of these systems are used to cool your home or office, the difference between what an air handler does and what an air conditioner does is that an air handler unit is placed inside of your building and is responsible for regulating the heating and cooling of your entire home, whereas an air conditioner is placed outside of your home and is responsible for removing and sending warm air outside to lower the temperature inside. One is an indoor unit and one is an outdoor unit. It’s up to you to choose which air conditioning system is best for you and your space!
How Much Does an Air Handler Cost?
The price of an air handler will vary drastically depending on the type of establishment you’re trying to heat/cool, the type of HVAC air system you choose, the brand you prefer, and installation cost, however, they’re estimated to range between $500-$6000.
