FAQs About Window Units
Do AC window units use a lot of electricity?
Compared to a central ducted AC system, window units use much less energy per hour. An industrial AC window unit is a very affordable way to cool a single space, but if you need to cool multiple spaces with one unit, it may not be your best option. How big should my window unit be?
This mainly depends on the size of the room you want to cool. Generally speaking, you need 25 BTUs per square foot of space, though numerous other factors like expected occupancy and number of windows will factor in as well. It is important to size your industrial window units correctly, as one that is too large or too small will either waste energy or overwork, often leading to costly repairs.
Is it cheaper to run window AC all the time?
Yes, but not at full power, all the time. When you turn an industrial window unit off, the temperature can rise well above where you want it, meaning it will take longer to cool down when it is turned on again, and it will have to work much harder to do so. By maintaining a constant lower temperature, you will put less intense wear and tear on the machinery over time.
